American High School Diploma
At BISG, the American High School Diploma (AHSD) program provides a comprehensive, rigorous, and internationally recognized pathway for students in Grades 9 to 12, preparing them for higher education and global opportunities. BISG is fully accredited by Array Global Services, ensuring that the AHSD program meets the highest standards of academic quality and integrity. The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity, and personal development, equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in a global context.
To graduate with an American High School Diploma, students must complete a minimum of twenty-six credits across a broad range of subjects. These include English Language Arts, History and Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Fine Arts, Languages Other Than English, Health and Physical Education, Practical Arts, and Electives. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to meet graduation requirements, while those aiming to graduate with honors must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Arabic language is a required course for all 9th-grade students, and all students holding a Palestinian passport must continue Arabic studies every semester throughout high school, in accordance with Ministry of Education regulations. Additionally, all Muslim students are required to take Islamic Education each semester, and all Christian students are required to take Christian Education, also every semester, as per Ministry requirements.
BISG offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses to students across all high school grades. These courses provide rigorous college-level content and skills, enhancing students’ readiness for higher education. Participation in AP courses is highly valued in the college admission process, with 85% of selective universities reporting that a student’s AP experience positively impacts admission decisions. AP courses also provide opportunities to earn college credit and advanced placement, while delivering engaging and rewarding academic experiences. In addition, each AP course adds a 0.25 weight to the subject grade on the student’s report card. All BISG students graduate with a U.S.-accredited High School Diploma, whether or not they take AP courses.
As part of our commitment to college readiness, BISG is an official SAT Test Center (Code: 74571), offering students convenient access to the standardized examinations required for admission to universities in the United States and around the world. Transfer credits from schools following a U.S.-based curriculum are applied toward graduation requirements and included in the student’s cumulative GPA. Transfer credits from non-U.S. curricula are applied toward graduation requirements; however, the grades are not factored into the cumulative GPA.
For students seeking Equivalency under the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education, the program meets specific criteria. Students must complete Grade 12 and hold an American High School Diploma from an accredited U.S. system school. They must achieve a minimum score of 400 in both Reading and Math on the SAT I and pass four subjects from a combination of Advanced Placement (AP) exams or College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) tests. For the Scientific Stream, the subjects must include AP Calculus AB or BC, or CLEP Precalculus or Calculus, along with two Science subjects. Students who do not meet the Mathematics and Science requirements are awarded Literary Stream equivalency.
Through the AHSD curriculum, AP courses, and SAT preparation, BISG ensures that students graduate with a well-rounded, academically rigorous, and internationally recognized education, fully prepared to pursue higher education both locally and globally.
